PROTECTIVE CLOTHING UPDATE

IHRA Australia Technical Review Committee have updated the Professional - Performance and Sportsman Clothing Matrix's.
 A new Matrix has been created - Sportsman Supercharged Outlaws
 
These updated Clothing Matrix's will be effective from 1st February 2021
 
These new Matrix's will help you the competitor easily identify which item of Protective clothing you are required to wear.

IHRA Australia and its Technical Review Committee (TRC) have used COVID-19 and the unfortunate downtime in drag racing activities to further increase and develop a safer sport, to improve driver / rider / vehicle safety specifications.

 

There will be updates provided over the next few months and we urge anyone in the drag racing industry to refer to IHRA Australia’s Website for all of these latest rule updates.

 
The following rules have been created and you will need to take note specifically of their implementation dates.
 

It is a responsibility of all drivers/riders/crew chiefs to be familiar and up to date with all of their class regulations. As Follows:

 

ELECTRIMOTION

General Reg 4096, Electrimotion

Effective 01/01/2021 any vehicle running a quicker ET than 6.50 ¼ mile or 4.15 1/8 mile must have Electrimotion system fitted with the following functions, Fuel Shut off, Ignition shut down and parachute release device must be functional.

HELMET EJECT SYSTEM

General Reg 2885, Safety Driver / Rider, Helmet

All Professional Categories, effective 1st January 2021. Eject Helmet Removal System (Part Number 890-01-30) mandatory and must be installed as per manufacturer’s instructions. A Stand 21 Lid Lifter head sock meeting SFI 3.3 may be used in lieu of the Eject Helmet Removal System.

General Reg 2886, Safety, Driver, Helmet

All other 4 wheel categories exceeding 6.50 ET ¼ mile (4.15 ET 1/8 mile)

Any Motorcycle running quicker than 7.50 ET ¼ mile (4.75 ET 1/8 mile)

If Dragster or Hot Rod or Funny Car or Roadster or Altered or Junior Dragster then fitted with helmet bars.

General Reg 1105, Safety, Chassis / Frame, Roll Cage, Helmet Bar

If Dragster or Hot Rod or Funny Car or Roadster or Altered, any flat steel strap forbidden.

Effective 01/01/2021.

General Reg 1110, Safety, Chassis / Frame, Roll Cage, Helmet Bar

Existing Pre 2020 Dragster or Hot Rod or Funny Car or Roadster or Altered, then helmet bar constructed of 3/4-inch x 0.058 inch minimum or larger round tube only.

General Reg 1112, Safety, Chassis / Frame, Roll Cage, Helmet Bar

Junior Dragster All NEW chassis helmet bars must be constructed of 3/4 x 0.058 inch Chromoly, 3/4-inch x 0.083 Mild Steel, round tube only. Effective immediately.

General Reg 1115, a Safety, Chassis / Frame, Roll Cage, Helmet Bar

If Dragster or Hot Rod or Funny Car or Roadster or Altered, (excluding Junior Dragster). All NEW chassis helmet bars must be constructed of 1-inch x 0.058 inch Chromoly, 1-inch x 0.118-inch Mild Steel, round tube only. Effective immediately.

If helmet bars required, then between ALL uprights of the roll cage.
